Redmond VFW hosts Christmas Bazaar
With Thanksgiving coming up this Thursday, it’s not too soon to prepare for the holidays. On Sunday afternoon, the Redmond Veterans of Foreign Wars celebrated with a Christmas Bazaar. an event that raised awareness and funds for local veterans.
“It means a great deal to the people of the post, because they’re very aware about the community work that we do and they want to continue doing that,” Hal Robbins said.
There were a number of vendors at the event showcasing their art. One was Tracy McKenzie, a veteran of the Iraq war.
“To have all these people supporting us is fantastic,” McKenzie said, “It’s really heartwarming, especially during the holidays, when there’s a lot of needs right now. Not just military, but others too. But it’s helping to bring that awareness about.”
The Redmond VFW hasn’t hosted the bazaar in four years. Now, with the community’s support, they hope to make it an annual event.
“This community has always supported the troops, and they’ve supported this post extremely well,” Robbins said.
