Shepherd’s House seeks year-end donations

KTVZ

The Shepherd’s House, a local charity serving Central Oregon’s homeless, continues to meet the needs of Bend’s homeless on a very tight budget throughout 2013.

Through September 2013 the organization barely raised enough support to keep the doors open, however, beginning in October, community support increased. The Shepherd’s House is asking the community to continue donating to The Shepherd’s House as part of their Christmas or year-end charitable contributions.

“2013 has become a turning point for us. Since assuming leadership in 2011, we have been able to create a stable organization that can help those most in need, thanks to community support. We just want to say thank you for your generous support and ask you to help us finish strong in 2013 to help even more people in going into 2014,” said Curt Floski, Director of The Shepherd’s House.

According to the 2013 Central Oregon One Day Homeless count, there are 2,198 homeless people in the tri-county area of Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. The Shepherd’s House provides over 36,000 meals per year and over 10,000 nights of shelter. In addition, The Shepherd’s House offers a recovery program that helps homeless men transform their lives and become productive members of the community.

To make a contribution to The Shepherd’s House, mail your donation to P.O. Box 5484, Bend, Oregon, 97701 or make an on-line donation at www.myshepherdshouse.org .
