New Sisters group aids those who grieve

Announcing the formation of a new nonprofit organization designed to help people see and be seen in their lives as they cross their metaphorical thresholds to healing and greater authenticity.

Threshold Journey is based in Sisters, and was founded by Jack Erskine and Christy Close Erskine, husband and wife Pastors and Spiritual Leaders. The couple will lead retreats and sessions in various locations in Central Oregon and beyond.

Jack and Christy know a lot about grief both through their individual callings as Pastors and Hospital Chaplains and through their own personal journeys and tragedy. When they considered their next step to be a journey together in service to others, they fell upon a quote that set them on their way:

“Pain that isn’t transformed is transmitted” by author Richard Rohr. says Christy, “Bit by bit we have gained clarity and been drawn to the work of helping people to cross the various thresholds in their lives”. And, from Jack: “We all come to thresholds that we know we must cross. We cannot cross a threshold for someone but we can stand with them without judgment and be there to greet them on the other side.Almost always, crossing thresholds is best done in community.”

Their first retreat, Good Grief, will be held on December 21 st from 9am – 4pm. On this Winter Solstice day, join in with no more than 10 others to explore your grief in a safe and caring environment. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: ….a time to be born, and a time to die; … a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…” –Ecclesiastes.
