KPOV receives second OCF grant
KPOV High Desert Community Radio has received a $10,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation for the second year of a capacity-building project.
Kathleen Cornett, Vice President of Grants & Programs stated, “KPOV serves as the only nonprofit non-commercial media outlet in Bend and the region. OCF is proud to support KPOV’s fundraising and capacity-building efforts in order to sustain this important voice in local news and cultural programming, connecting citizens and promoting regionally specific themes, issues and ideas.”
“We are very grateful to OCF for its support of KPOV in providing independent radio to the Central Oregon community,” said Pearl Stark, Station Manager of KPOV.
The mission of the Oregon Community Foundation is to improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy. OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awards more than $80 million annually in grants and scholarships.
OCF makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of requests for funds. Application materials are available through the Foundation’s Portland office. Individuals or businesses interested in establishing a fund may contact the Bend office at 15 SW Colorado Avenue, Suite 250, Bend, OR 97702, 541-382-1170, or visit www.oregoncf.org.
