KIDS Center names board members

KIDS Center, Central Oregon’s regional child abuse intervention center, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeff Absalon and Rocky Miner have joined KIDS Center’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Absalon is an internal medicine physician and administrator at St. Charles Health System in Bend. He is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College and Oregon Health Sciences University. He and his family have lived in Central Oregon since 2001.

Mr. Miner recently retired from a 36 year career in public education. He graduated from Sweet Home High School, earned his BS from Southern Oregon State College (now SOU) and received his Master’s in Education Counseling from University of Oregon. His last 13 years have been in the Crook County School District. The first nine years as principal of Crook County Middle School and the last four as principal of Crook County High School.

KIDS Center provides medical evaluations, forensic interviews, family support and therapy for children who have or may be experiencing sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and/or witness to domestic violence in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties and Warm Springs. KIDS Center also provides a region-wide prevention and education program to help adults learn how to keep kids safe from abuse.
