High Desert Chamber Music has been awarded a grant from the Autzen Foundation, in the amount of $2,500. The Autzen Foundation funds programs focusing on arts, culture, and social services, primarily in the State of Oregon.

High Desert Chamber Music has also been awarded a grant from the Deschutes Cultural Coalition, in the amount of $1,000. The Deschutes Cultural Coalition (DCC) is sponsored by the Oregon Cultural Trust, and supports projects and activities that encourage a greater awareness of local culture. The DCC also helps new and established organizations increase their capacity to fulfill their mission.

“We are very fortunate to be awarded these grants from the Autzen Foundation and the Deschutes Cultural Coalition. It is gratifying to receive continued recognition and support for our programs, and these funds will be used to supplement payments to our visiting artists for Educational Outreach efforts through the season,” states Executive Director Isabelle Senger.

High Desert Chamber Music educational outreach efforts include providing students with direct contact to the visiting artists through performances and Q&A sessions at string orchestra classes. This has been a great and rare opportunity for students to interact with visiting professional musicians in an informal setting. In addition, HDCM provides complimentary tickets to the performances for the string orchestra programs of several local Middle Schools and High Schools. In doing so, we hope to expose young children to the highest levels of music performance, and cultivate an interest that can lead to a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of the performing arts.

High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Now in its sixth season, HDCM has presented a broad range of chamber groups, ranging from string trios to piano quintets. There are three remaining performances in the HDCM Concert Series. Tickets and more information are available by phone or online through High Desert Chamber Music.
