C.O. reserve officer academy sets graduation

The Central Oregon Reserve Law Enforcement Officer Academy will hold commencement exercises for the class of 2013 in the MAC Training Center of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, 63333 West Highway 20, Bend, on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 PM.

The nine graduates represent five Central Oregon Law Enforcement agencies including the Sheriff’s Offices of Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties and the Police Departments of Bend and Redmond

In successfully completing the 458 hours of intensive Academy training, each graduate met established performance standards of Oregon’s Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. The graduates will return to their respective agencies as sworn Reserve Peace Officers and begin their assigned duties under the supervision of a field training officer. One of the graduates earned 21 lower division college credits through Chemeketa Community College.

The Academy is a cooperative effort of Central Oregon’s Law Enforcement Agencies. This year’s Academy was sponsored and hosted by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. Classes were conducted in the Sheriff’s MAC Training Center. The Academy instructional staff consists of regular and reserve law enforcement officers from the participating agencies, the Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook County District Attorney’s Offices, the Oregon State Police, as well as a number of individuals from various civic and governmental organizations.
