Utility matches heat donations $2 for $1
Helping some of your neighbors stay warm and healthy this winter is tripling in value and the appreciation is priceless. Pacific Power will match every $1 you donate to Oregon HEAT with $2 more.
“Severe winter weather can magnify financial hardship on our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Joan Towers, executive director of Oregon HEAT, the only private non-profit statewide energy assistance provider. “Funded entirely by donations, Oregon HEAT’s mission gets crucial support from Pacific Power. The $2-for-$1 match of their customer gifts allow us to extend our reach and retain light and warmth for thousands of families struggling with poverty.”
In 2013, donations from Pacific Power customers, employees and the company helped more than 2,300 households in Oregon. The 2-for-1 match cap of $144,000 from Pacific Power was reached in mid-December 2013. Pacific Power’s commitment for 2014 kicked off Jan. 1 and again the company will match $2 for every $1 donated by customers, up to $144,000.
“The economy is getting better in many places, but we know too many of our neighbors are still in need of the most basic help,” said Pat Reiten, president and CEO of Pacific Power. “Serving our customers is the reason we’re in business. Going a step further in partnership with our customers to help neighbors that need a hand, is the right thing for us to do. This 2-for-1 match will help our neighbors in a simple and direct way. For example, $20 from you will triple and provide $60 to Oregon HEAT– to help your neighbors stay warm.”
Pacific Power customers who receive their bills by mail will find an Oregon HEAT contribution envelope in their January bills. Those interested in assisting local households in need can donate by forwarding their tax-deductible contribution in this envelope. Customers who pay their bills electronically can send a check made out to Oregon HEAT or enroll in the fixed donation program. This program allows customers to donate any dollar amount, starting at $1 per month, which is then incorporated into their monthly bill. Fixed donations will also be matched 2-for-1 by Pacific Power. All donations are tax-deductible and are forwarded to Oregon HEAT. All funds donated are used to assist families in need from the same county in which the donor resides.
