Crash seriously injures Prineville motorcyclist
A 66-year-old Prineville man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle crossed the center line of Juniper Canyon Road and collided with an oncoming car, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.
David Lister suffered an amputated foot in the collision, reported around 4:40 p.m. near milepost 4 of the road south of Prineville, said sheriff’s Sgt. James Savage.
The man riding the motorcycle was reported to be unconscious in the road with an amputated foot, Savage said.
A Prineville police officer was the first to reach the scene of the crash, which was blocking both lanes.
Crook County Fire and Rescue arrived and began to work on Lister, who was flown by Life Flight helicopter to St. Charles-Bend. He was listed in serious condition Saturday night, a nursing supervisor said.
Investigators determined that Lister was riding his 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle heading south with a friend on a separate motorcycle, Savage said.
Lister’s motorcycle crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2003 Audi driven by Dennis Duren, 56, of Redmond, the sergeant said.
Duren was treated at the scene by fire medics and released.
The crash blocked both lanes of the road for nearly an hour, according to Savage, who said it’s believed that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
