Deschutes Co. Planning Comm. seeks Sisters member

Deschutes County seeks a new volunteer Planning Commission member from the Sisters area and is accepting applications until Friday, February 21. This position will complete a vacant term through June 30, 2014, with the potential for re-appointment for a new four-year term from July 1, 2014-June 30, 2018.

The Planning Commission reviews land use policy and zoning regulations and makes recommendations to the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners. Members are the official citizen involvement committee on land use planning for the unincorporated area of the County, providing a forum for community input.

The volunteer vacant position is for the Sisters area. County Code defines the Sisters area as Townships 14 or 15, Ranges 9, 10 and 11, which is generally 6-10 miles around and including the City of Sisters. According to County Code, the membership of the commission shall, as much as possible, be representative of the various geographic areas of the County.

The Planning Commission meets at the Deschutes Services Center (1300 NW Wall Street) in Bend, on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. Additional meetings and locations throughout the County may be required.

Those interested in serving are invited to submit a complete application form which includes a letter of interest and resume. Complete applications will be accepted before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014.
