C.O. Taekwondo students qualify for nationals

Seven martial artists from High Desert Martial Arts here in Bend competed Sunday at the Oregon State Taekwondo Championships held at Portland State University.

The top four finishers in each of the competition categories qualify to compete at the 2014 US National Championships to be held in San Jose, CA in July.

The competition styles are: Sparring (Olympic style), Board Breaking (flying side kick for distance), and Poomsae (traditional martial art forms).

All seven have qualified, and following are the results:

Travis Griffiths Green Belt: Sparring First Place, Forms Second Place

Ever Blackwood Red Belt: Sparring Second Place, Board Breaking Third Place, Forms Third Place

Jackson Clough Red Belt: Sparring Third Place

Brendan Sickau Red Belt: Sparring First Place, Board Breaking Third Place

Courtney Brown Red Belt: Forms Second Place

Angela Chisum Red Belt: Forms Second Place

Daniel Graff Black Belt: Forms First Place
