JeffCo, Culver, Sisters schools closed Monday

As the region digs out from feet of snowfall, Jefferson County School District 509-J, Culver and Sisters schools and the Redmond Proficiency Academy made early calls Sunday — classes will be canceled Monday.

Bend-La Pine Schools announced Sunday night a two-hour delay Monday, with no morning kindergarten classes.

Central Oregon Community College campuses and OSU-Cascades also announced they will open at 10 a.m., with earlier classes canceled. Later they announced COCC’s Madras campus was closed Monday.

Crook County schools also are on a two-hour delay.

Government/schools:

Oregon Employment Dept. reports UI call center open, but with limited staff. Expect long wait times or busy signals. Use www.employment.oregon.gov/oce to file claims online.

Jefferson County School District 509-J has canceled classes for Monday due to “the continued inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.”

The Culver School District has canceled classes for Monday due to road conditions.

The Sisters School District has canceled classes for Monday.

Redmond schools are closed Monday for a planned district-wide curriculum day.

Redmond Proficiency Academy also has canceled classes Monday.

St. Thomas Academy in Redmond has canceled Monday classes.

Bend-La Pine Schools plan a two-hour delay Monday, with no AM kindergarten.

Crook County schools also are on a two-hour delay Monday.

COCC’s Madras campus was closed Monday; other COCC campuses and OSU-Cascades will open at 10 a.m. Monday; earlier classes are canceled.

Powell Butte Community Charter School is on a 2-hour delay.

Trinity Lutheran School is on a 2-hour delay on Monday.

St. Francis School is on a 2-hour delay Monday.

Cascades Academy is on a two-hour delay Monday.

Three Sisters Adventist Christian School is on a 2-hour delay Monday.

Morningstar Christian School also is on a 2-hour delay on Monday.

Waldorf School of Bend will be on a 2-hour delay with no pre-K/kindergarten classes held.

Deschutes Public Libraries: downtown Bend, La Pine, Redmond, Sisters and Sunriver open Monday, regular hours (East Bend Library is closed on Mondays).

Bend Park and Rec Kids Inc. AM is canceled on Monday

The Redmond and Prineville senior centers are closed Monday.

Central Christian School in Redmond also is closed Monday.

Sisters Christian Academy also has canceled Monday classes and its evening child care meeting.

Eastmont Community School also plans to be closed Monday.

NeighborImpact Head Start morning classes for Bend, La Pine and Redmond are cancelled on Mon day.

Prineville Head Start classes are canceled for Monday morning.

High Desert ESD Redmond morning and afternoon preschool classes are cancelled for Monday.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy hearings scheduled Monday at the Bend Armory have been canceled and will be rescheduled, probably the following week, according to Trustee Michael Batlan.

Redmond Airport (SUNDAY UPDATE):

Redmond Municipal Airport finished snow removal and reopened Sunday after a closure for over a day. Visitors are warned to be prepared for snow and ice conditions around the terminal and to use caution. Check flight status with airlines or http://www.flyrdm.com/?Flight-Status

Events:

Sunday’s planned celebration of life/spaghetti feed fundraiser for Sisters fire victim Don Pierce has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Bend Community Center’s Feed the Hungry program will be closed Sunday.

Political satirist Will Durst’s Sunday evening KPOV benefit at Volcanic Theatre Pub has been canceled due to a flight cancellation.

Saturday night’s and Sunday ‘s Tower performances of the Rodgers & Hammerstein revue befitting CASA were canceled. Rescheduled dates will be announced shortly.

Saturday night’s performance of Solo Speaks at the CTC’s Greenwood Playhouse: Postponed until Saturday, Feb. 22.

Rotary Club of Redmond’s first Daddy-Daughter Dance: Postponed, will be rescheduled.

Friday/Saturday night’s Archaeology Film Festival showings at COCC were canceled and may be rescheduled for Feb. 28/March 1..

Lava City Roller Dolls bout and junior bout were canceled Saturday night.

Bend Community Contra Dance was canceled for Saturday evening at the Boys & Girls Club.

Aaron Meyer concert at Summit High School has been postponed, possibly reset for March 15th.

Sunday’s Empty Bowls benefit for Jericho Road at Ridgeview High in Redmond has been canceled, will be rescheduled.

“Second Sunday : How to be Brave on the Page” has been cancelled due to weather. This was originally scheduled for Sunday at the Downtown Bend Library.

The Trio Voronezh-RCA Redmond Community Concert scheduled for Sunday has been canceled.

American Legion Ray Johnson Post 44 Sunday Bingo is canceled.

The Madras/Jefferson County Relay For Life Kickoff Event scheduled for Sunday at the Madras COCC campus has been postponed and will be re-scheduled to a later date.

Business/Organizations::

To St. Charles-Bend staff: If you are scheduled to work and are having a difficult time getting out, please contact the staffing office at 541-706-7740. You will be connected to the house supervisor who will work to coordinate a ride.

Bend Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Closed Saturday.

Due to hazardous road conditions and snow, Bend Cab shut down its service for Saturday night.

For the safety of drivers and clients, Sober Dudes weren’t running Saturday evening.

High Desert Museum will open at noon Sunday; Saturday night’s “Fashion and Firearms” event has been postponed.

Most Wells Fargo bank branches in Oregon closed, many open until 1 p.m. only.

Humane Society of Central Oregon: Shelter and Thrift Store closed Saturday.

Back Bend Yoga has canceled Saturday and Sunday classes.

Saturday night’s Spanish couples dance by the marriage encounter group at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond has been postponed to a date to be determined.
