TGIF, Bend: Free coffee makes Friday sweeter

Friday is just about everyone’s favorite day of the week, but for people coming through Westside Bend Dutch Bros. Friday morning, their Friday got a little sweeter, thanks to Umpqua and Sterling Bank.

“We’re setting the checking account and the loans aside for a second and saying, ‘Have a great weekend!” said Umpqua Bank Store Manager Tina Whittington.

The excitement in the air was definitely contagious, and that’s a pretty regular occurrence at Dutch Bros.

Employee Chad Lujan said, “What we are all about here is making people’s day. It’s not about the coffee — it’s about the smiles.”

Manager Tonya Thomason agreed: “We make people’s day every day, but just a free cup of coffee is a so simple. But it’s an amazing, random act of kindness.”

Dutch Bros. regular, Joey put it this way: “Even if I wake up and it’s like, ‘Uh it’s one of those days,’ I come here and I’m like, ‘It’s a great day!'”

Usually, it’s the coffee that provides the morning pick-me-up But this Friday, a nice gesture is all it took.

So much so, Whittington got a little lost in the moment during an interview: “Woohoo! I forgot I was on camera.”

Everyone took advantage of the free coffee, although some might not have needed it.

“Free Coffee!! Woohoo!” yelled a customer.

Umpqua and Sterling Bank’s random act of kindness hit the mark, to make everyone’s Friday a little brighter. Pass it on!
