Familiar face new NeighborImpact spokesman

KTVZ

Former KTVZ-TV news anchor Jason Carr joins the staff of NeighborImpact as Communications Director.

Carr is a native of Central Oregon and brings with him a decade of media experience. He was previously the executive director of The Partnership to End Poverty and spent six years as the economic development director for Crook County where he helped attract the Facebook and Apple data centers to the region.

“I’m excited to join the staff of NeighborImpact. This is a truly dynamic organization that serves over 55,000 people every year. I’m passionate about organizations that provide opportunities for people to succeed economically and improve their lives,” said Carr.

NeighborImpact offers a wide variety of programs including food distribution, weatherization, housing assistance, financial counseling, and Head Start programming. The organization has over 200 employees with offices in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties.

Along with his media background, Carr has been working in the nonprofit sector since 2007 and has experience as a board member, executive director and program manager. NeighborImpact executive director Scott Cooper says that diversity of experience is a perfect fit.

“Jason’s working knowledge in the anti-poverty arena, his media background, and knowledge of Central Oregon will be an enormous asset to our team, explained Cooper. “While NeighborImpact is one of the largest nonprofits in the region with a nearly 30-year history, we can do more to promote our programs and successes.”

Carr holds a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Oregon University in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He’s currently a member of the Prineville City Council, serves on the OSU-Cascades Regional Collaboration Task Force, and is chair of the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council.
