Redmond School District Superintendent Mike McIntosh has announced the selection of Tony Pupo as planning principal for the upcoming Hugh Hartman Elementary School.

Pupo will be responsible for leading planning efforts for Hugh Hartman Elementary School scheduled to open in 2015. He is currently an assistant principal at Redmond High School and has been with the district for seven years.

Pupo has been in education for more than 14 years, having worked at RHS, Vernonia High School and schools in Morrow County School District and Yakima School District. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Eastern Oregon University and received his administrative certificate from George Fox University.

Pupo will continue as assistant principal at RHS for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year and will begin his role in the fall of this year.

The new elementary school will be housed in the current Hugh Hartman facility located on 2105 W. Antler Ave. in Redmond. The facility was built in 1995 and has housed several district programs including Hugh Hartman Middle School, the Redmond High School Annex and currently, the Redmond Proficiency Academy. The district chose to open an additional elementary school to accommodate student growth and the full-day kindergarten option that will be offered district-wide in 2015.

Redmond School District is enthusiastic about the selection of Tony Pupo as the Hugh Hartman Elementary School planning principal,” shared Mike McIntosh, Redmond School District Superintendent. “Tony holds a long standing, positive connection with our students, families and team members. His experience and relationships will be vital to the successful development of our new elementary school.”
