Bend police: Missing teen found in Vancouver

A 15-year-old boy who disappeared early Tuesday from a Bend home he was visiting for spring break was found late Tuesday night near his mother’s home in Vancouver, Wash., police reported.

Officers said Kenneth Currin Schuchman was heading to the home of his mother, who lives in the area, when he was found by Vancouver police.

Lt. Nick Parker said the teen had been reunited with his mom, and said the department wants “to thank the community for all efforts in trying to locate him.”

Schuchman, who has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome and autism disorder, left a home at 20623 Sierra Drive, north of Empire Avenue and east of Boyd Acres Road, around 1:30 a.m., said Lt. Nick Parker.

Schuchman is from Washington state and his family was visiting Bend on spring break, Parker said Tuesday.

“He is believed to be walking, without access to a vehicle, and has been known to ride public buses,” Parker said. He said later in the day police were investigating the possibility he left the area by bus.
