Bend-La Pine Schools Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Programs Vicki Van Buren met with Bend Senior High School staff Friday to announce the name of the school’s next principal, Chris Reese.

“Chris is definitely ready for this leadership position and has already been thinking about how to leverage the good work already in place into continuous school improvement,” Van Buren said. “He has tremendous support from staff.”

Van Buren said that Reese was selected to become the school’s next principal after a daylong interview process. He is currently in his tenth year as assistant principal at BSHS.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to be the principal at Bend Senior High School and to be able to work in a district that is committed to excellence for all,” Reese said. “We have an incredible staff of classified and certified employees who amaze me everyday. I am blessed to have the chance to work with a great team and amazing student body at the school I love.”

Reese said that he looks forward to building upon the culture of trust, respect and acceptance that permeates from the students and staff at BSHS.

“I absolutely love Bend High and everything that it stands for – it is like a second family to me,” he added.

Reese will assume his new role on July 1.
