COCC Community Learning registration set

Registration for Central Oregon Community College’s Community Learning summer classes begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 19. More than 150 classes, including 17 youth camps, will be offered this summer.

The summer schedule includes new and popular favorite noncredit offerings to enrich and expand learning. Classes in photography, computers, fitness, business, cooking, gardening, recreation and art will be held in Bend, La Pine, Madras, Prineville, Redmond and Sisters.

A sampling of new classes includes Real Estate Broker Test Prep, professional development online courses in Finance Management, Nonprofit Management, Human Resource Management and Project Management (partnered with MindEdge), Wildflowers of the Cascades Hiking and Photography with two instructors: Abbott Schindler (photography instructor) and Damian Fagan (hiking instructor and wildflower expert), Equine-Facilitated Communication, Open-Water Swimming with Stand-Up Paddleboard Training and Writing Retreat with author and poet Ellen Waterston.

For the sixth year, the college’s Community Learning program is offering summer youth camps that stimulate and nurture the minds of young people ages 10 to 14. Camps include Dinner’s Ready Culinary Camp, Aviation Exploration, Make Your 1 st Video Game App and Video Production.

Class schedules will be mailed May 17 to residents who have taken a class in the last two years. Schedules are also available at COCC, local chambers of commerce and libraries and on the Web.
