C.O. employer council wins award

The local chapter of the Oregon Employer Council, OEC-Central Oregon, was named “Metro Council of the Year” on May 5 at OEC’s Annual State Conference for Business.
This award is bestowed on the local council that has excelled in its mission to give Oregon businesses a voice with state government, specifically the Employment Department. The Council provides educational seminars, with Continuing Education Units, for local businesses. They also disseminate information about government updates, resources, and compliance that affect area businesses.
OEC-CO is one of more than 20 local chapters statewide, and represents Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson Counties.
OEC is a private non-profit organization that partners with the Oregon Employment Department to advocate for employers on workforce issues.
The OEC-CO local board is currently composed of Katie Tank (President), Marico Oliveira (Secretary), Sandy Stephenson (Treasurer), Christa Gunnell, Joyce Luckman, Trygve Bolken, Mari Jacobson, Kelly Martin, Erick Trachsel, and Traci Donaca. Local Employment Department representatives include Denise Taylor (OEC-CO Coordinator), Laurel Werhane, and Kelly Karr.
