Bend driver arrested in DUII SUV-bicycle crash

A Bend woman was arrested early Monday on DUII, assault and other charges after her SUV struck and critically injured a bicyclist at a northeast Bend intersection, police said.

Erin Michelle Fast, 24, was driving an Isuzu Trooper eastbound on NE Revere Avenue shortly after midnight when she struck a bicycle ridden by Robert Sean Kahl, 40, also of Bend, in the intersection at Division Street, said Lt. Nick Parker.

Deschutes County Jail records indicated Fast’s initial charges, pending arraignment, included DUII, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault, reckless driving and recklessly endangering.

Initial bail totaled $65,000, but Circuit Judge Stephen Forte reduced Fast’s bail to $50,000 at her initial court appearance by video Monday afternoon. She later posted 10 percent of that amount and was released on bail, pending her next court appearance on May 27th, a jail officer said.

The crash investigation and accident reconstruction closed the intersection and the Revere Avenue off-ramp from the northbound Bend Parkway for several hours. It was reopened around 5 a.m., Parker said.
