Bend Research exec named to state workforce board
Trygve Bolken, human resources generalist of Bend Research, was recently appointed by Governor John Kitzhaber to the Oregon Workforce Investment Board.
The Oregon Senate held a floor vote on May 29 th to confirm Bolken’s appointment. His tenure will last from June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2017.
The OWIB is the overall advisory board to the Governor on workforce matters. The OWIB is made up of leaders representing private sector businesses, labor, state, local governments and government agencies.
A majority of the nearly 32 members represent the private sector. One of the chief duties of the OWIB is to assist the Governor by developing a five-year strategic plan for Oregon’s comprehensive workforce system.

Bolken is a native Oregonian and a 24 year resident of Bend. He attended Oregon State University, majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Industrial Engineering.
Bolken is a long-time human resources professional with a passion for economic and workforce development. He currently sits on the board of the Central Oregon Employer Council and is vice president for Area 2 of the Oregon Employer Council State Executive Board.
Bolken also sits on the Bend Economic Development Advisor Board – Business Service Organizations Subcommittee and is the Land Use Chair for the Mountain View Neighborhood Association (MVNA) Board of Directors.
Bolken is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Bend and a 2014 graduate of Deschutes County College. He is married to Sydney Bolken and they have a young daughter Mathilda.
