Deschutes Library offers wi-fi access to foundation info

KTVZ

Deschutes Public Library has expanded its partnership with the Foundation Center in New York and now provides free wireless access to the Foundation Directory Online (FDO) at all six DPL branches.

The Foundation Directory Online is a massive, comprehensive database profiling nonprofits, grants, and grantmakers. With the addition of wireless access, grantseekers and nonprofit organizations looking for funding sources have a new and convenient way to access the FDO at their local library.

Deschutes Public Library is a Funding Information Network (FIN) partner with the Foundation Center. Funding Information Network partners provide local organizations and nonprofits with vital information and training so they can become successful grantseekers and better support underserved populations. FIN partners nationwide offer free access to the Center’s detailed information on grantmakers and how to apply for grants. The Foundation Center’s core collection includes The Foundation Directory Online, profiling more than 100,000 U.S. grantmakers, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, print directories, and proposal writing guides. FIN partners also hold training sessions on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders.

Established in 1956, the Foundation Center is the nation’s leading authority on organized philanthropy, serving grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public.
