Redmond volunteer firefighter wins state honor

KTVZ

Jade Ames, a volunteer firefighter with Redmond Fire and Rescue, has been selected as the Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association’s Firefighter of the Year.

Ames has been a dedicated volunteer with Redmond for the past 10 years and has held the office of president since 2006.

He spends countless hours giving back to his community and Redmond Fire and Rescue through the planning and coordination of multiple community events, responding to emergencies and presiding over the Redmond Volunteer Firefighters Association.

“Jade goes above and beyond department expectations by being an active member of the organization and community. He exemplifies what volunteer service is about, and what other volunteer firefighters should strive to be” stated Jake Campbell, Volunteer Coordinator/Training Chief.

Ames received the award in June at the Oregon Volunteer Firefighter Conference.
