Pacific Power plans Culver-area outage

KTVZ

About 1,800 Pacific Power customers in the Culver area will be without electricity during the early-morning hours Friday so crews can safely connect some newly upgraded substation equipment.

Utility officials say the upgrades will provide for more reliable system operation with the addition of renewable power generation in the Culver area.

The outage is scheduled to begin at 2 a.m. and power should be restored by 4 a.m., although officials said it will be back on at the first opportunity.

The area affected includes all of Culver, west to include the Three Rivers and Round Butte recreation areas, south to the Highway 97 bridge over the Crooked River and east to Highway 26.

Customers in the affected area have been notified individually about the outage. The timing was chosen to minimize inconvenience, especially for irrigators who will still be able to get their pumps operating by dawn under this plan.

“The work being done to accommodate the growth of renewable resources in the area and improve reliability in Jefferson County,” said Angela Price, regional community manager. “Continued reliable, safe delivery of your electric service is our overriding priority and this scheduled outage will help assure that.”

If customers have questions about the planned outage, they can call Pacific Power at 1-888-221-7070 . Any outages during that time in other parts of the community should continue to be reported to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088 .
