Bank of Cascades donates $42,000 to United Way
Bank of the Cascades recently presented United Way of Deschutes County a $42,000 check in support of the bank’s philanthropic mission to improve the quality of life for all local residents.
The donation is part of Bank of the Cascades’ program to match its employees’ giving to United Way dollar for dollar, bringing the bank’s total 2014 giving commitment to the Central Oregon nonprofit to $84,000.
“United Way of Deschutes County is making a positive difference in addressing some of our community’s most pressing needs,” said Bank of the Cascades President and CEO Terry Zink. “It is a privilege to partner in its important work by matching 100 percent of the contributions our Central Oregon employees have pledged to make to United Way in 2014.”
United Way of Deschutes County addresses the most urgent human social services needs facing the local community. Funds donated to the organization are distributed through a variety of community-specific grant programs to provide basic needs for at-risk residents, protect and serve families affected by abuse and violence, educate and develop youth, and reduce health risks to newborns and young children.
“Actions speak louder than words, and Bank of the Cascades continues to show through its actions how much it values the essential role nonprofits play in our community,” said United Way of Deschutes County Executive Director Ken Wilhelm. “By matching donations dollar for dollar, the bank demonstrates corporate leadership, motivates its employees to give more generously and leverages their contributions for even greater community impact.”
Bank of the Cascades’ corporate gift will directly support United Way, which will also distribute funds among Abiltree, Bend Area Habitat for Humanity, Bethlehem Inn, Boys and Girls Club of Central Oregon, CASA of Central Oregon, Central Oregon Council on Aging, Family Access Network, Grandma’s House of Bend, Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center, Healthy Beginnings, Heart of Oregon Corps, Hospice of Redmond, J Bar J Youth Services, Kids Center, Mosaic Medical, Mountain Star Family Relief Nursery and Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades.
Bank of the Cascades’ partnership with United Way of Deschutes County is part of the bank’s larger commitment to support local nonprofits in the communities it serves. In May of 2014, Home Federal Bank was merged into Bank of the Cascades, giving the combined bank even greater opportunities in the future to partner with nonprofits making a difference in communities across Oregon and Southwest Idaho.
