Two more arrests in Prineville-area home burglaries

A wanted man called possibly armed and dangerous was found to have a knife when he was arrested during a Redmond-area traffic stop Thursday, one day after raids on two Prineville-area homes that netted three arrests and truckloads of stolen items, including guns and a car, authorities said.

They said his girlfriend also was arrested Thursday by Crook County sheriff’s detectives, bringing the total number of arrested suspects to five.

Bo McRae Bryant, 33, was living in the Eugene area until he recently moved to Prineville, said Crook County sheriff’s Sgt. James Savage. A high-risk traffic stop (with guns drawn) took him into custody without incident.

Redmond police stopped the car to make the arrest, which also involved Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team detectives, Central Oregon Emergency Response Team members, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and Crook County 911 dispatchers, Savage said.

Meanwhile, Sarah Ann Pack, 33, of Prineville was arrested by detectives at the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Savage said, noting that also occurred without incident.

Bryant was lodged at the county jail in Prineville and Pack at the Jefferson County Jail in Madras, where Crook County rents additional jail beds, Savage said.

Both were being held on $85,600 bail, facing charges of first-degree burglary, identity theft, theft by receiving, first-degree aggravated theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Bryant also was lodged on several warrants stemming from two recent police chases.

Savage said the sheriff’s office wanted to thank citizens “who assisted in bringing this potentially dangerous situation to a satisfactory conclusion.”

Deputies have been investigating a string of residential burglaries over the past month, Savage said. Detectives were able to gather enough information to obtain two search warrants to look for the stolen property, which included tools, several firearms and lots of other items, he said.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday, the CERT (SWAT) team, with the assistance of the CODE team, deputies and Prineville police raided a home at 6352 SE Canyon Road, south of Prineville, Savage said. An illegal marijuana grow also was seized at that address, he added.

Kelly Michael Shearer, 34, and Talina Shantel Ortiz, 36, both of Prineville, were arrested at that location. Both were lodged at the county jail – Shearer on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, theft by receiving and marijuana manufacture and possession, and Ortiz on two outstanding warrants.

At 7:30 a.m., a second raid took place involving the same agencies, at 797 NE Sixth Street in Prineville. Lucas Thomas Bechtel, 32, of Prineville, was arrested at that home and booked into the county jail on theft by receiving charges.

Savage said Bryant, who recently moved to Prineville from the Eugene area, was wanted on several warrants after a pair of police chases with Prineville-area police in recent weeks. Bryant was not caught in the first, and fled east and was stopped and arrested by Wheeler County sheriff’s deputies in the second, Savage said.
