$100,000 grant to St. Vincent de Paul Redmond

KTVZ

St. Vincent de Paul Redmond received approval from the Collins Foundation for a grant totaling $100,000 towards the purchase of their existing building in Redmond. Two other foundation grants have been applied for and are pending trustee final review.

These funds will be added to the community donations totaling $122,000 and savings accrued by SVDP for the building purchase. The goal of the Board and organization is to complete the purchase by November of 2014.

Board President Jamie Kanski said, “The success of our building campaign is directly attributed to a concerted effort by all of our board and staff, who have worked hard over the past year applying for grants, gaining community support, making presentations to service groups and for the excellence of service to those in need in our community.

“We understand that without a secure and permanent facility, we cannot guarantee continuing the important services that SVDP provides. We know now that we will be here, helping families and individuals in need for many years to come.”

SVDP Redmond provides 18,000 – 24,000 meals through the food box program each month in the Redmond area, several thousand dollars in donated clothing and household goods, several thousand in rent/mortgage and utility/propane assistance per month.

SVDP partners with several agencies in Redmond and provides referrals and educational materials to assist with efforts towards self sufficiency. The thrift store provides quality, low cost goods to the community and provides the majority of annual funding for social service programs and expenses.

Donations to the campaign may be made to SVDP, 1616 SW Veterans Way , Redmond, Oregon 97756; donations to the thrift store may be arranged by calling 541-504-9840 or brought directly to the store on Veteran’s Way. All donations are tax deductible as allowed under IRS guidelines.
