Maine PD: Theft fugitive last seen in C. Oregon

Authorities in Maine said Thursday they are seeking help from Central Oregonians in finding a fugitive who fled before sentencing in a felony theft conviction over two years ago.

Drew Bibber, now 23, of Wiscasset, Maine, is wanted under a nationwide, extraditable arrest warrant for felony theft and failure to appear for sentencing, said Patrol Deputy Jared Mitkus of the Lincoln County, Maine Sheriff’s Department.

“Drew’s last known location was in Bend and Sisters Oregon in 2013,” Mitkus said in an e-mail to Bend-area media.

Bibber was convicted in November of 2011 of stealing jewelry, pipes and other items from a Boothbay Harbor boutique retailer called Enchantments in August of 2010. He failed to appear for a March 29th, 2012 sentencing hearing in Lincoln County Superior Court.

News reports said Bibber and two other suspect stole a large number of items from the store, then drove toward the Detroit area, trying to sell them along the way. A former employee, Richard Malady, also was convicted of theft, and a woman who was driving during the incident was convicted n misdemeanor charges.

Anyone with information is asked to contact local police, or cal call Mitkus 207-882-7332 or Chief Robert Hasch of the Boothbay Harbor, Maine Police Department at 207-633-5616.
