KPOV sets fall membership drive

KTVZ

KPOV 88.9 High Desert Community Radio is holding its fall membership drive October 1-11. KPOV is the only non-profit public radio station originating from Bend, broadcasting throughout Deschutes County and the Prineville area. It is supported by listeners and local businesses and powered by volunteers.

The eclectic mix of great music, local news, and thoughtful dialogue on KPOV are produced by skilled local DJ’s and show hosts.

Have you ever wondered who those DJ’s are, who is the person playing the great music you love, or what’s the story behind the host who does those great interviews? You can find out during KPOV’s Fall Membership Drive from October 1-11. Tune in to 88.9 FM or kpov.org to hear your favorite DJ’s let you know a little about themselves, tell a story or two from their lives, and talk about why they love being a KPOV DJ.

You will also learn just how deeply everyone at KPOV is tied to our community and cares about our community. KPOVs DJ’s live and work and play and raise their families in the same community they serve at KPOV. They select their own music, decide which stories to cover, pick the fascinating people to interview. All of their decisions are rooted in their experiences and lives as Central Oregonians.

And it’s not just a handful of people. KPOV has more than 70 DJs who produce 40 local shows. They are as diverse as our community and represent just about every aspect of it. When you listen to KPOV, you are listening to your community on the radio.

The goal of the membership drive is to raise $21,000 to help support KPOV programming and operations throughout 2014 and 2015. Along with thank you gifts at various member levels, KPOV will hold a daily prize drawing during on-air pledge breaks. Donations received before 5:00 p.m. October 1st will also be entered into an Early Bird prize drawing for a $50.00 gift card to a local restaurant.

Gifts include travel mugs, beanies, and Silishot glasses. Drawing prizes include gift cards, delicious treats, event tickets, and 2 grand prize drawings for free one-night hotel stays.
