Bomb scare delays LAX flight to Redmond
Authorities say passengers were ordered off a Redmond-bound plane in Los Angeles and a bomb squad was called over a piece of luggage with wires sticking out — which as it turned out belonged to a crew from a reality television show.
Los Angeles Airport Police Sgt. Karla Ortiz says passengers were boarding the plane operated by American Eagle and bound for Redmond at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday when airport police were notified of the suspicious bag and evacuated the plane.
Ortiz tells City News Service that airport police then interviewed four members of a reality TV crew from the flight who said the bag contained video equipment, and the story checked out.
Ortiz says the incident occurred at a remote terminal of LAX. She didn’t know what show the crew was from or how many passengers were involved.
The plane finally landed at RDM around 5 p.m., more than four hours later than scheduled.
