Highway 22E reopens after condenser rolls

KTVZ

Oregon Highway 22E three miles west of Mill City was partially blocked for much of Wednesday while workers sought to clear a truck crash in which a 70,000-pound cylindrical condenser rolled onto the highway, Oregon State Police reported.

According to OSP Lt. Josh Brooks, a report of a commercial truck crash was received on the highway around 3 a.m.

A commercial truck with Bigge Crane and Rigging Company was traveling downhill when the rear car started to swerve and lost control, Brooks said. The truck and load rolled onto its side, blocking the two westbound lanes and center median.

Cranes and more equipment were sent to remove the vehicle and load. OSP was on scene assisting ODOT with a plan for removal.

Flaggers were keeping a lane open to help keep traffic moving through the area; a detour route was put in place later Wednesday morning and the road apparently was cleared by mid-afternoon, according to TripCheck .

OSP said its investigation of the crash was continuing.
