Bend HS honors 3 distinguished alumni

Bend High School will honor three distinguished alumni during Homecoming events Friday.

This year’s honorees include:

– Robert Foley, Class of 1929, a World War II veteran and original member of the Oregon Court of Appeals (Foley, who died in 1997, will be represented by sons Tom and Terry)
– Ryan Longwell, Class of 1992, a former National Football League kicker and Special Olympics advocate
– Craig Walker, Class of 1974, a former teacher, longtime football coach and athletic director for Bend High School

“This group of outstanding former students showcases the rich contributions Bend High grads make to our community and nation,” said Principal Christopher Reese. “We are proud to honor them.”

The alumni will be recognized during events throughout the day on Friday.

The honorees will attend a student assembly emceed by Bob Shaw at 11:10 a.m. in the Bend High School gym.

The former students and their families will be escorted to Punk Hunnell Stadium by Principal Reese and will be recognized at 6:30 p.m., announced by emcee Bob Shaw. The Homecoming game between Bend High School and Summit High School begins at 7:05 p.m.

Plaques honoring these distinguished alumni will be hung in Bend High School near other former recipients.
