Franklin Street Community Garden

The concept of shared garden space has long been used throughout many European cities where private yard space is rare. The allotments have been used to grow year-round fruit and vegetables.
In Bend, this will be true of the new Franklin Street Garden as well but in addition this project has decreased city expense by taking a once vacant lot that the city maintained and turning the care over to volunteers and residents. The project was funded and completed solely on donations and volunteer labor. A beautiful addition to this once unattractive corner in Bend.
