Power outage hits 2,100 in Tumalo area

KTVZ

More than 2,100 Pacific Power customers in the Tumalo area between Bend and Redmond lost service Sunday afternoon when a substation went off-line, prompting a call-out of repair crews to determine the cause.

A bad relay caused the Deschutes substation north of Bend to go off-line at 3:39 p.m., resulting in an outage affecting areas from Highway 97 and Hunnell Road on Bend’s north end to much of Tumalo, said utility spokesman Ry Schwark.

Pacific Power estimated the power would be back on by about 7:30 p.m., and officials said it was restored around 6:30 p.m.
