Fire leaves NE Prineville home total loss
Authorities said they are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home on Northeast First Street in Prineville late Thursday morning.
Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched shortly before 11:30 a.m. to the reported house fire, sending eight firefighters, two engines and a medic to the scene, said Fire Chief Matt Smith.
Crews arrived to find the upper floor of the two-story home burning, Smith said. They were able to contain the fire to the second floor, but it was still a complete loss, with significant water damage on the first floor.
Two dogs were rescued unharmed, while a cat was rescued and resuscitated on scene, Smith said.
