Fire destroys shop northeast of Prineville

KTVZ

A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a detached shop northeast of Prineville and also heavily damaged a motor home, officials said.

Crook County Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched at 4:12 a.m. to the fire in a subdivision off Northeast Wainwright Road, arriving to find the shop ablaze and a 400-gallon heating oil tank venting flames, said Fire Chief Matt Smith.

Ten firefighters responded aboard two engines, an ambulance and a water tender, as water had to be hauled to the scene.

The shop was a complete loss, Smith said, and a motor home sustained significant damage, but the property’s main residence sustained minor damage.

One person was transported to the hospital with a non-fire-related medical issue, and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, said Smith, who did not yet have a damage estimate.
