Bend drug dealer gets 6-year federal prison term

KTVZ

A 27-year-old Bend man with a criminal history of drug dealing has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for methamphetamine possession with the intent to distribute the drug, federal prosecutors said Friday.

Gavin Fraser was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Michael McShane in Eugene. He also faces four years of federal supervision after his release from prison, U.S. Department of Justice spokeswoman Gerri Badden said.

Members of the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team spotted and stopped Fraser’s car on July 1, 2013 as it returned from a trip to Portland “which officers believed was for the purpose of picking up drugs and transporting them back to the Bend area for distribution,” Badden said.

A search of the car turned up about 25 grams of meth, along with 24 grams of heroin, scales, packaging materials and a .22 caliber handgun, prosecutors said.

Fraser has prior convictions for meth and heroin delivery and has been the subject of several investigations by the CODE Team, Badden said. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan Lichvarcik.
