Jen Healy named new Miller Elementary principal

Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Ron Wilkinson announced that Jen Healy has been selected to become William E. Miller Elementary School’s next principal. Healy is currently assistant principal at William E. Miller, a position she has served in since 2009.

“I have some big shoes to fill, with Principal Steve Hill retiring. I’ve worked with him for 14 years and helped build a very strong base at the school. Now I’m looking forward to working with parents, staff and students to make Miller the best it can be,” said Healy.

Healy serves on the district’s Math Strategic Team. She began her teaching career in Florida and has 14 years of classroom teaching experience, including eight at High Lakes Elementary School in Bend. During her time at William E. Miller, she served as Student Services Coordinator, Assistant Principal and served a year as temporary principal.

“My years here have prepared me very well to take on this challenge,” said Healy. In the next year, she wants to guide staff and students during the “iPad roll out and new English Language Arts curriculum, while pressing our kids to think about grit and having a growth mindset,” said Healy. “We have a very strong staff, amazing family support and wonderful students.”

Healy will begin her new position July 1. She takes over the role from Hill, who is retiring.
