Wash. fugitive runs, hides, caught in Prineville
A Portland man wanted in Washington state on a felony warrant was spotted and ran from Prineville police early Thursday, leading to a search helped by a citizen’s tip that found him hiding between two Dumpsters, officers said.
A man believed to be Christopher Miotke, 40, was found around 1:10 a.m. Thursday in the area of Northeast Elm Street and Loper Avenue, said Sgt. Tom Kurtz.
The man ran when officers tried to talk to him, and police set up a search perimeter in the area but were unable to find Miotke, Kurtz said.
Shortly after 3 a.m., a citizen reported seeing the man in the area of North Main and Northwest 10 th streets, the sergeant said.
Police, including Crook County sheriff’s deputies and a Bend police K-9 unit, found Miotke hiding between two Dumpsters in the area, Kurtz said.
He was arrested on a Washington state felony warrant, as well as three counts of violating a restraining order and stalking. A charge of violating a release agreement was being sent to the Crook County DA’s office for review, Kurtz added.
