Bend PD make dozen DUII arrests in four days

KTVZ

With spring – and spring break – just under way, Bend police said Sunday they have made a dozen DUII arrests in just the past four days.

Ten of those drivers were impaired by alcohol and two cases involved drugged driving, said Lt. Nick Parker.

Half of the 10 alcohol-related DUIIs resulted from blood alcohol content levels over .15 percent – more than twice the legal limit of .08 – and several were over .20, Parker said.

Several also resulted in additional charges, including reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing or attempting to elude police and methamphetamine possessions.

Two involved crashes, though no one was injured.

Police made three DUII arrests Thursday, two Friday, four on Saturday and three by late Sunday afternoon. They involved nine men and three women – five in their 20s, two in their 30s, two in their 40s and three in their 50s.

Eight of those charged were from Bend, one from Redmond, and one each from Sandy, Oregon, Texas and California.

Parker reminded citizens to drink responsibly and urged them to use other means of transportation when impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Driving under the influence of intoxicants is a misdemeanor crime in Oregon, the lieutenant said. Though the legal BAC limit in Oregon is .08 percent, it is illegal to drive impaired, which could mean an individual is under the limit, Parker said.
