Mt. Bachelor Rotary raises $14K for Family Kitchen
The Mt. Bachelor Rotary Club of Bend has awarded $14,634.17 from its 7th annual Casino Night and Texas Hold ‘em Poker Tournament to the Family Kitchen.
“We at Family Kitchen are so grateful for the support we receive all year from the Mt Bachelor Rotary Club,” said Donna Burklo, Family Kitchen’s development and marketing director. “Their members regularly volunteer to serve meals, and now this!
“On the night of the fundraiser, a Rotarian shook my hand on the way out and said, ‘I think we’re going to feed a lot of people.’ I don’t think any of us could have dreamed it would have been this many! I can’t begin to describe how dedicated these folks are to helping the most vulnerable of our neighbors.”
The Family Kitchen’s mission is to serve anyone who needs a nutritious meal in a safe and caring environment. Approximately 300 community volunteers help cook, serve and clean up after meals. Over 58,000 meals were served at their downtown Bend location in 2014.
“Our Casino Night and Texas Hold ‘em Poker Tournament has grown each year with outstanding assistance from our non-profit partner and we were delighted to support Family Kitchen in 2015,” said Gwen DeBernardi, the event committee chair. “We had over 250 people on hand and appreciated all those who attended, played in the tournaments and took part in our silent auction to raise money for one of Central Oregon’s most important non-profit organizations.”
The Mt. Bachelor Rotary Club Casino Night and Texas Hold ’em Poker Tournament was sponsored by Classic Window Coverings.
