Bend-La Pine ‘kindergarten round-ups’ on April 22

KTVZ

Families with incoming kindergarteners in the Bend-La Pine Schools are encouraged to register their children for the upcoming 2015-16 school year during kindergarten round-up events at neighborhood schools on Wednesday, April 22.

Parents will be able to ask questions, meet teachers and administrators, learn more about the school and register their students. Each school has set its schedule and events, so contact your neighborhood school for details.

This is the first year that all elementary schools in Bend-La Pine Schools will be offering free full-day kindergarten to all students.

“The kindergarten round-ups are great opportunities for families to learn about our schools and register their students,” said Lora Nordquist, assistant superintendent of elementary programs for Bend-La Pine Schools. “These events also help the district gauge student enrollment to better plan for teachers, classroom space and materials.”

In order to be eligible for kindergarten, students must be 5 years old prior to Sept. 1, 2015. To register, parents should bring a child’s birth certificate or other legal proof of age; proof of address; and a record of immunizations.

After April 22, parents can register students between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. any school day.
Registration for Silver Rail Elementary School, which will open in the fall, will take place at Bear Creek Elementary School.
