Saving Grace receives grant for Mary’s Place
Saving Grace was awarded a $7,700 grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation to support Mary’s Place, Saving Grace’s Supervised Visitation & Safe Exchange Program.
These funds will be used to provide extensive case management activities by Mary’s Place staff on behalf of families using the visitation center, to coordinate safety-focused services.
Mary’s Place is one of only two supervised visitation and safe exchange programs in the state of Oregon which specifically serves families impacted by domestic violence.
In this round of funding by the CCUIF, 12 Deschutes County non profits, including Saving Grace, received a total of $61,700. In total $393,703 in grants were awarded to 66 nonprofit organizations.
“We are extremely grateful to Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation for supporting Saving Grace and specifically our Mary’s Place program this year. These funds will make a large impact on families dealing with domestic violence and will allow Mary’s Place staff to continue their work focused on safety and healing,” said Lauren Biskind, Saving Grace Development Director.
Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities in which they live and work. In 1997 the Tribe formalized this tradition of philanthropy by establishing a grant making Foundation, first known as the Cow Creek Seven Feathers Foundation. Since 1997, CCUIF has awarded over $14 million to nonprofits.
In the spring of 2000 the Foundation changed its name to the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, to emphasize that it is a private, independent foundation, representing the Tribe, and not to be confused with one of the Tribe’s many economic development endeavors, the Seven Feathers Resort.
