Cascade Lakes Relay charity team aids Ronald McDonald House

KTVZ

Since its inception in 2008, demand for teams in the Cascade Lakes Relay has grown so much that the race has chosen to offer a special Charity Team entry, offering the team the opportunity to fundraise for a non-profit organization in a race route community in exchange for an entry in the Cascade Lakes Relay.

This year, Team “Attitude at Altitude”, from Portland, selected Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Central Oregon as their beneficiary.

Team Captain Joe Krajewski explains, “We chose to support the local Ronald McDonald House Charity to give back to the organization that provided a loving home to my family when my son, Will, was undergoing chemotherapy and many surgeries, in Seattle, during his battle with Cancer. He is now 25 months post-chemo, still Cancer-free. We are finally in a position to give and couldn’t think of a better way to give back than to raise funds and build awareness through our participation in the Cascade Lakes Relay!”

This weekend, our Central Oregon community will welcome 3,000 participants in 250 teams, driving 500 race vans. Altogether, the race will give over $50,000 back to vital community organizations.

RMHC of Central Oregon Board Member and Chief Endorphin Officer/Owner of Cascade Relays, Scott Douglass shared, “Raising funds for our local community is a core pillar of our business model. We are very grateful to be in a position to support those in need across the communities who welcome and support our events.”

RMHC of Central Oregon will manage the major relay exchange point at Devil’s Lake this Saturday and have a photo booth planned to interact with participants. They are most looking forward to cheering on their very own Team Attitude at Altitude! The team has raised enough funds to provide lodging for 53 nights! Their efforts are ongoing through the weekend. To check out their crowdfunding page and to make a gift, visit www.rmhccentraloregon.kintera.org.
