Bend company launches cooking competition app

KTVZ

A Bend tech company just launched its FoodFu app, an interactive way to have a fun cooking competition, right in your own home.

Co-creator Lisa Sipe says it’s a way to repliate the cooking competition shows like “Top Chef” or “Chopped,” but in the comfort of your home — and get to taste the food.

You can set up the battle ahead of time. To play, you need about four people, two judges and two chefs.

Through the 45-minute event, cooks battle it out while answering questions from the judges.

In the end, dishes are rated by plating, taste and creativity.

Sipe says it’s a fun, interactive game you can use with a group.

“I’m sure you’ve seen people eating at a dinner table, and everybody is staring at their phone,” she said. “So we want use technology to bring people together. So it’s helping to create memories than take you away from the people around you.”
