Citizen searcher finds missing Bend woman
A citizen helping police search for a missing Bend woman with severe dementia found her in apparently good shape Saturday evening, officers said.
Officers had alerted the public that Helen Fisher, 75, walked out of her home on Northwest Pickett Court around 6 p.m. Lt. Jason Maniscalco said she last had been seen on foot in the area of Northwest Promontory Drive near Pickett Court, and that she might be unaware of her name if called.
Anyone with information was asked to call Deschutes County 911 searchers.
Maniscalco said later that Fisher had been found shortly after 8 p.m. in the area of Three Sisters Drive and Promontory Drive by one of numerous concerned citizens who pitched in to help searching the area for the woman.
The woman did not appear to have any injuries, but was evaluated by Bend Fire Department paramedics as a precaution.
The Bend Police Department thanked citizens who assisted in the successful search.
