Fire destroys barn north of Prineville
A fire destroyed a barn more than five miles north of Prineville Sunday afternoon, but the owner was able to get the animals out before it was engulfed, officials said.
Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched around 1 p.m. to the barn fire off McKay Creek Road, said Fire Chief Matt Smith. Crews arrived to find the barn fully involved.
The barn was a complete loss, despite the efforts of three engine crews and two water tenders that also responded, Smith said.
The Oregon Department of Forestry also responded to help with what Smith called “some minimal spread to the wildland.”
The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
