Bend tech company gets $76 million investment
A Bend company announced Wednesday that it’s closed on a $76 million private equity investment. G5 is a digital marketing company with a focus in property management, but it has a different mentality than most.
The office has a relaxed vibe, with a “bring your dog to work policy, a keg on a site, and the opportunity to hike on your lunch break.
The company has exploded in growth in it’s first 10 years of business, and this $76 million investment from Peak Equity Partners will only expand that growth
“We are really excited about growing. We think it’s going to be significant growth over the next three to five years,” said Vice President of Marketing Criss Marshall.
Heather Amey has been working at G5 for seven years. When she started, they had a total of 22 employees.
“People here are really the reason why I stay,” Amey said.
It’s also the dogs, the office key, and the breaks they are encouraged to take.
“It’s a good place to work, and they do a nice job to blending bend, with family, with work. We kind of bring it all together,” Amey said.
The digital marketing company was established in Bend and currently has 175 employees. In 2010, they were given another big investment and hired 60 people in six months.
The transition was tough, but they are learning from their mistakes.
“Doing more of a metered approached, we already have a 100-day plan we put into place,” Marshall said, “And the thing that I’ve found is that there is an incredibly amount of talent right here in Bend.”
This investment is one of the biggest in Central Oregon history.
“I don’t know of any company being funded at that level,” said Roger Lee, executive director of Economic Development for Central Oregon.
It’s G5 marketing cloud, an innovative digital marketing platform in the property management sector, that they hope to grow and improve.
“That we look at all the gaps that we have today, the opportunity we have today, our strengths, our weaknesses, and we put together a plan to that will fortify anything that we need to, and amplify things that we are already doing that are really good,” Marshall said.
