Two teens arrested in Tollgate home burglary, theft case
Two teens were arrested Wednesday night in connection with the weekend burglary of a home in the Tollgate area near Sisters where a couple awakened to find an unknown male in their bedroom, who they chased away, along with a second male.
Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said the pair also burglarized a Sisters home three days earlier.
Sgt. Deke DeMars said deputies arrested Jacob Edward Glatz, 18, of Sisters, and an unidentified 16-year-old in connection with Sunday’s burglary at a home on Lasso Street in Tollgate, a subdivision northwest of Sisters.
During their investigation, detectives learned the two were involved in a previous residential burglary on Aug. 27 at a home on East Horse Back Trail in Sisters, DeMars said.
Glatz was being held at the county jail in Bend on two first-degree theft and two first-degree burglary charges, with bail totaling $70,000. The juvenile was held at the county’s juvenile detention facility on two counts of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft.
The couple awakened early Sunday to find a stranger in their bedroom, who they chased away – but apparently he or another man found waiting outside left their mountain bike behind, deputies had said.
Deputies were dispatched around 2 a.m. Sunday to a burglary call at a home on Lasso Street, in the subdivision northwest of Sisters, DeMars said.
The husband and wife said they awoke to find an unknown male in their bedroom, who fled when he saw the residents were awake, DeMars said. The woman called 911 while her husband chased the intruder from the home.
The homeowner said when they followed the intruder outside, they saw a second man also running away, but lost sight of both in the darkness, the sergeant said.
The intruder found in the bedroom was described as wearing gray pants with a black sweatshirt; there were no details provided on the second man who was outside.
Deputies searched the area, with the help of a Redmond police K-9 team, but were unable to find either suspect, DeMars said.
Evidence seized at the location included a red and black Novara Bonanza mountain bike, found in the home’s driveway.
