Five arrested in drug raid on southeast Bend home
Four Bend residents and a California man were arrested Tuesday in a southeast Bend drug raid that capped a nearly two-month investigation into heroin and methamphetamine trafficking from a home near R.E. Jewell Elementary School, authorities said.
Neighbor tips helped lead to the 8 a.m. raid at 61137 Brosterhous Road, near Murphy Road, and the charges include manufacturing and delivering drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, said Lt. Ken Mannix of the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team.
Along with CODE Team detectives’ work, identifying suspects, patterns of activity and vehicles, more information was gathered through “a number of citizens who contacted law enforcement regarding suspicious activity at the residence,” Mannix said in a news release.
Five suspects were at the home and were taken into custody without incident, the lieutenant said. They were identified as Zachary Dickson, 23; Steven Breaux, 36; Elicia Katz, 31; and Jenna Zetsche, 30, all of Bend, and Arturo Torres, 29, of Garden Grove, California.
Evidence seized in the home included user amounts of meth and heroin, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, scales and other evidence of drug sales, distribution and manufacturing.
All five were booked into the Deschutes County Jail, where they were still being held Wednesday afternoon.
Along with the various drug possession, manufacturing and distribution charges, all five were charged with frequenting a place where drugs are used. Dickson was held without bail on a parole violation, while Torres was held without bail on the frequenting charge and a fugitive arrest warrant. Bail for the others ranged from $10,000 to $25,000.
